ZeroBrokerFees founder sues state of New Hampshire

Boston Business Journal - June 14, 2006

A Massachusetts Web site that lists homes for sale is suing the state of New Hampshire over that state's rules restricting home sales advertisements to licensed brokers and newspapers, the Associated Press reported.

ZeroBrokerFees.com founder Ed Williams said he has been reluctant to advertise in New Hampshire because he doesn't want to run afoul of the state's regulations. Williams, of Beverly, said he filed a lawsuit in federal court in Concord, asking that the law be declared unconstitutional.

ZeroBrokerFees.com charges $49 and up to advertise a house on its site. It doesn't charge any other fee or commission, and does not get involved in the transaction.

The suit names the state's Real Estate Commission and the state attorney general.
